Bastide du Roy

In Antibes, facing the village of Biot, on the French Riviera

Why we love the Bastide du Roy

Olive trees everywhere, 365 of them, one for every day of the year, clipped box hedges and a facade with pale green shutters. In Antibes, 4 km from the harbour, the Bastide du Roy is all yours for the big day. Come evening, everyone dines in the courtyard under the string lights, facing the village of Biot and the Alps.

The area

Antibes harbour is 4 km away, and the Provençal market fills the covered hall on Cours Masséna every morning except Monday, and every single day in summer. Right across from the Bastide, the hilltop village of Biot: at its glassworks, you watch the glassblowers shape the bubbled glass invented there in 1956. A lovely morning before the party.

How many guests can we invite?

Up to 280, for the ceremony as for the dinner. For a hundred or two hundred: long tables in the Cour d'Honneur, with the Pavillon des Oliviers close by if the wind picks up.

Until what time can we dance?

Until 2 am, in the Cour d'Honneur or in the Pavillon des Oliviers, with the Bastide's sound system and its sound engineer. Your last guests head off around 3 am.

Can we have a secular ceremony on site?

Yes, and it's often the loveliest moment: in the Music garden, round and ringed with olive trees, or in the French garden. You choose the words, the officiant and the music for your entrance.

Can we have our civil wedding in Antibes?

In France, a civil wedding always takes place at a town hall, never at the Bastide. Antibes town hall can marry you if one of you, or one of your parents, lives there or has lived there for at least a month. Otherwise, the civil wedding happens in your own town, and the ceremony at the Bastide.
