The area

Portets is a Graves village on the left bank of the Garonne, 24 km from Bordeaux. From April to November, on the big spring tides, the tidal bore runs up the river at Portets. Close by, the botanical garden of Château de Mongenan, where Rousseau was once a guest, and on Saturday mornings the market in Cadillac, across the river.

Who is Fervenza?

Fervenza is a French all-inclusive wedding company. With Émilie and the whole team, we’re already planning the weddings of 2027 and 2028.

  • French company, licensed live-event producer Your contract is governed by French law
  • Covered by professional liability insurance
How much does a wedding at Château de L'Hospital cost?

From $57,000, all-inclusive, for about 100 guests on a weekday: the venue, the table, the flowers, the music, your photos, and us on site. For a full weekend, the price follows the château's. The exact price depends on your date and your guest count, and you get it in writing within a week.

Can the price change?

Once we’ve agreed, no. It only changes if you change the wedding: more or fewer guests, a wish added along the way.

What if one of our suppliers can’t make it?

We replace them. They’re our suppliers, under our contract, so the two of you have nothing to search for or renegotiate. You approve the choice, and we take care of the rest.

Can we insure our wedding?

Yes, if you wish. We can offer optional cancellation insurance dedicated to your wedding, placed with Lloyd’s. It covers canceling or postponing for reasons beyond your control, including if one of you can’t be there, as set out in the policy terms.

What if we booked the château directly?

You can, it's a beautiful house. The château rents you its estate from Friday to Monday, furniture included, and opens its address book. You then bring together the caterer and the service, the drinks, the flowers and the decor, the DJ and the photographer. With us, all of that is in your price, every choice stays yours, and the château keeps its own rate. You come to get married.

How many guests can we invite?

Up to 120 at table in the Orangerie, and 140 for drinks. On fine days, dinner can also move outdoors in the park, under the stars or under a tent, and up to 49 of you can sleep at the château.

Which dates are still free?

Tell us your date, we check with the château and reply in writing.

Can we have a secular ceremony on site?

Yes: in the park, under the tall trees or facing the vines, or on the terrace and the garden in front of the Orangerie. You choose who marries you, in English, French or both, and what gets said.

Can we have our civil wedding in Portets?

In France, a civil wedding always takes place at a town hall, never at the château. Portets town hall can marry you if one of you, or one of your parents, lives there or has lived there for at least a month. Otherwise, the civil wedding happens in your own town, and the ceremony at the château.

Our guests are flying in. Is it easy for them?

Yes: Bordeaux-Mérignac airport is 30 minutes away, Bordeaux too, and the regional train links Bordeaux Saint-Jean to Portets station in 25 minutes. Paris is 2 h 04 from Bordeaux by high-speed train, and up to 49 of your guests sleep at the château.

How late can we party?

Until 4 am, on the Orangerie dance floor. Music outdoors stops at 10 pm and the party carries on inside. Up to 49 of your guests sleep a few steps away. For the others, we give you the addresses, ready to share with your loved ones.

And if it rains?

The Orangerie is the plan: its 140 m² seat 120 at table and keep the dance floor going, and a ceremony planned in the park can move inside. For dinner, a tent in the park is another option.

Where do we get ready?

In the park-side suites, air-conditioned in summer, each with its own walk-in shower. The old smoking room, with its club armchairs and its fireplace, is a few steps away if one of you would rather get ready there.

Will our families be comfortable, grandparents and children too?

Yes. Since 2025 a ramp leads into the château, a bedroom is fitted for reduced mobility and a paved path runs all around it. The Orangerie is open to reduced mobility, 80 parking spaces wait on site, and the children have the mezzanine above the hall to play in.

Can we serve the château's own wines?

Yes, and it's the loveliest nod: Graves reds and whites grown organically in the vines around your ceremony. The 2025 white won a gold medal at the 2026 Concours Général Agricole. And if you'd rather pour other wines, the château charges no corkage.

Coming from abroad: how does it work?

Your contract is governed by French law, and also written in English.

Can we bring our own vendors?

Yes, and if you already have a vendor in mind, they're welcome. Your photos are included, with our photographers. If you already have yours, we welcome them into the team and adjust your price. The château imposes no caterer: the choice stays yours.
